Katherine began her educational career as a exceptional education paraprofessional at Cottondale Elementary School. 

Her excitement grew as she worked at her job as a paraprofessional, and decided to further her education in Elementary education at Chipola Community College and finished later at Troy State University at Dothan, Alabama earning her degree.  Katherine completed her teacher internship at Cottondale Elementary School.  She graduated with honors in 1997 with a B.S. in Elementary Education.

Her first teaching responsibility was at Cottondale High School as an Exceptional Education educator for grades 9-12.  She enjoyed this so much, she earned her certification in Exceptional Student Education.  She has worked in various teaching positions at Cottondale High School, Marianna Middle School and presently at Sneads High School.

Katherine enjoys her teaching career immensely and working with her students.  She loves reading and has recently earned her Reading Endorsement so she can help to instill the love of reading in all her students.


Katherine is originally from Wheeling, Illinois, but now resides in Cottondale, Florida.  She has lived in Cottondale for over 30 years.

Katherine is the mother of two children, Gregory Brent, 36, and Amber Celeste, 28. 

Katherine is the grandmother of Brent's children, Hannah Faith (12), Isabella Maria (10) and  Violette Amara (2).  She also has a step-grand, Gigi (6).  Hannah attends Cottondale High School in the 7th grade.  Isabella is at Cottondale Elementary School in the 3rd grade.  Gigi will be be in kindergarten at Cottondale Elementary School.

During her free time, Katherine enjoys spending time with her family, reading and computing.
